Young's is giving The Wheatsheaf on Esher Green a four-week makeover from Sunday 11 October. The doors reopen on Friday 6 November, in time for Christmas bookings.
The Wheatsheaf on Esher Green closes from today, Sunday 11 October, for a refurbishment lasting just under four weeks. The pub will reopen on Friday 6 November.
The announcement is on the pub’s own website, signed by general manager Zee and the team: “From Sunday 11th October, we’ll be closing our doors for just under four weeks while we give your local a well-deserved makeover.”
The team says the refurbishment has “been a long time coming” and promises a “new-look local” when the doors reopen. The pub is posting progress on its Instagram account.
The pub
The Wheatsheaf is a Young’s pub at 40 Esher Green, KT10 8AG, facing the green on the Portsmouth Road side of the town. The pub describes itself as a 200-year-old heritage pub, family friendly and with dogs allowed in the bar. It has a heated, covered garden and a private dining room called The Green Room.
The Food Standards Agency’s register gives it a hygiene rating of 5, from an inspection on 9 September 2025.
Until the closure, the pub’s listed hours were 11am to 11pm Monday to Thursday, 11am to 11.30pm on Friday, 9am to 11.30pm on Saturday and 11am to 10.30pm on Sunday.
