Jo Brand at Riverhouse Barn on 26 October, the National Honey Show at Sandown, Brooklands' Motorsport Day, half term at Painshill and the first fireworks.

Elmbridge has no single town centre and no big civic diary, so the autumn is spread across a handful of venues that each run their own programme. The fullest by a distance is Riverhouse Barn in Walton, which has comedy, folk, jazz and talks most weeks, headed by Jo Brand trying out new material on Monday 26 October. Sandown Park hosts the National Honey Show from 22 to 24 October, Brooklands has two big event days, Painshill fills half term with children’s sessions, and the first fireworks night is Colets in Thames Ditton on Sunday 1 November.

Elmbridge Museum’s historic photographs of the borough hung beside new pictures taken from the same spots. Its last week (Elmbridge Borough Council).
  • Nikita Burzanitsa, piano recital, Friday 2 October, 7pm, Riverhouse Barn. £15. Brahms, Ravel, Stravinsky and Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz, in aid of The Amber Trust (Riverhouse Barn).
  • Jazz and Beer: The Louisiana Rhythm Kings, Sunday 4 October, 12.15pm to 2.15pm, Riverhouse Barn. Trombonist Simon Wyld’s band plays 1920s and 1930s jazz (Riverhouse Barn).

Getting there

Riverhouse Barn is on Manor Road by the river in Walton and has its own car park. Painshill charges admission on top of most event tickets unless the listing says otherwise, and Brooklands’ event days are covered by a normal museum ticket. Esher Rugby has no car park, so use Hersham station car park. For council car parks and which are free on a Sunday, see parking in Elmbridge; for closures, see roadworks and travel.
